Writing a letter to a friend?
Hello,
I need help trying to write a letter. It’s for a friend of mine, for his birthday.
Of course some of you may be wondering, why do I need help? He’s my friend after all…
But over the past three months he’s been a bit distant from me. From me and my other friend; both of us chipped in money together to buy his present.
I’m lost because I used to think I was extremely close to this friend of mine; we shared secrets and to an extent, grew close romantically. But ever since the new school year started he’s pretty much been avoiding me. I can understand that he’s under a lot of stress with schoolwork, but I don’t understand how now he thinks its ok not to even engage in a decent conversation with me, or to even just hang out with me anymore. Both me and my other friend are concerned for him–he is very secretive and he keeps to himself a lot. But we’re both very much considerate of him and we chose a present that we think he is going to like a lot.
I’ve been told by my other friend that there is no way in this birthday letter to him that I am going to ask him why he’s been avoiding me and other negative things. If I have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all yes? Really I do want to write this, but 3 months of not really doing very much together hasn’t left for very many recent memories. I don’t know what to say and quite frankly, I miss the old him.
How do I say happy birthday and any other caring things to a person like him?
Thank you.
